School Friends

Why can't we make friends like in school,
Is it us or them who have changed the rule;
Wouldn't count for rich or poor or not so smart,
Just clean in the mind and pure by heart!

I don't think it is necessarily to do with Age. Some of my school-type friends are from MBA where average age is obviously much higher. I think it has a lot to do with going through life (a majority portion of daily life) together in the same environment aiming for the same goals without any relevance attached to differences in life.

I agree with the first part of your comment. The term 'school' in my poem above is just a representative word used for school or university.
Regarding the second part, what you are saying is true and possible, but not probable since friendship is more than just common goals and aims.
Anyway, some amount of poetic license should be allowed to convey an idea.
Thanks for reading and sharing your views.

Hi Rishit, Ur Quatrain holds truth for most of us.Guess I'm exempted coz I ve learnt to come out of the shell for what the yesteryears had in store for me.My coy n introvertedness has come a long long way.But 2 generalize,in this world where one is so stuck in the rut of doing daily chores ,the true essence of 'living'life is forgotten n 'sustaining' life is the key ! With age comes wisdom n 'pride' is a default package, so ego wins n resiliency lost ! So I hope my friend Ur effortful input opens many an eye and people learn to befriend with as much ease n love. To conclude I'd say 'One must count ones age by friends n not years '
